I have a smaller than adult size Basin and Ewer set that I think is flow mulberry with overpainted in multiple colors. Dimensions: Overall: 10” Wide x 8.75” High Basin: 10” Wide x 3.25” High Ewer: 5.5” Wide x 8” High I thought this was attributed to Francis Morley c 1845. However, someone advised me that it is Samual Alcock c 1850. It is not on the Transferware Club database. Do you have any information about this set? Thank you.
Hi Lynn. According to our database, Petra Williams cataloged this pattern as "Basket and Vase", obviously in error. Both Williams and Ellen Hill attributed the pattern to Francis Morley because "FM" was impressed on their examples. However, this mark has been observed on a number of Samuel Alcock patterns but not on any known Francis Morley patterns. Also, the example we have in our database is on a known Alcock shape. This evidence points to S. Alcock as the maker. It was registered circa 1850. Thank you for your inquiry!
