Hello: My name is Craig Miller and I inherited 11 large boxes of flow blue , Transferware and stuff. My question for the group is how to best organize the collection? By platter, dinner plate, bowl? Or by Color? Or by pattern if known? I've got it all out of the boxes and in somewhat of an order (over 50+ handless cups and saucers).
I do have a lot of information but it's list by when she bought so no order at all.
Any ideas of best way to organize
any suggestion on how to dispose of the collection, Ebay is not an option as there is so much. Any suggestion well received.
For starters, it sounds like you're planning to sell it. If so, you might want to contact a local auction house. They would likely take the whole collection and organize it in the way they think it would best sell. That's probably the easiest and quickest way. There also might be an antique or consignment shop who would handle it. You could also consign to someone who sells on eBay. Last two could take quite a while, but you might stumble on someone who would buy it all.
I personally would recommend sorting by pattern as much as possible. Which also likely means by color. What remains, sort by type...e.g. cups and saucers, etc.
You may not need to do any of that though If any of the above suggestions work out.
Would love to see a few photos, particularly of the flow blue handleless cups and saucers to get an idea of what you have. What condition is the collection generally in..e.g. cracks, chips etc.?
