Re: Need help with identification
Hi Rebecca, This is a Rococo teapot, our database shows it as "Twelve-Panel Rococo", defining it as six-footed, twelve-panel, C-shaped handle, with a ring finial. J & R Godwin may be the potter, but there may be other potteries that made this body style. I have a teapot in this same shape but with a different pattern number(639), so I imagine it was made by the same potter as what your beautiful teapot was. Most of these pots were not given a pattern name, and very few of them had the potter's name. Your teapot would date to 1835-1866. It SHOULD NOT be considered a Gaudy style. You have a lovely piece and I hope you will keep it as a reminder of your mother.
