Hi Rebecca. You are correct that the sugar bowl is pattern SCINDE and the impressed mark is actually J & G Alcock (John & George Alcock). This would have been circa 1840. You might check to make sure you have the correct lid. A sugar bowl would not have a "vent hole" whereas a tea pot would have a small hole on the lid. Sometimes the lids get put on the wrong item because they fit both a tea pot and sugar bowl. SCINDE is a pretty popular pattern.
