There's a piece of paper wrapped around the hank with a magnet holding the paper to a metal cart. Loosely hold the hank while you pull out a strand or a few & hang onto it if you see other hairs bunching. Use ones that are hanging out longer than the rest too.

Set-up on my metal sink counter. See how few strads at a time I pull out of the hank. I wet them after ever new strand(s).
