How do your process them?

I picked mine, some say to cut them. I probably could've saved a bit of soaking had I done so --leaving the tips with dirt on 'em outside. I gave them a thorough soak. Jostled 'em around a bit and let more dirt and debris settle/float. Get the floaties, then gently lift the mushrooms out of the soak. Re-rinse in a strainer. Cut off the dirty tips. To shorten the story, clean 'em up real good. Normally, I like to then fry them in butter and garlic. They're also good breaded first. This batch, however, I'm dehydrating for later use. Probably crumble them and brown in oil with onions when we have burgers or something like that. They'd go nice in a soup. I also wonder about powdering them for a soup/stew flavoring. My two new desk-figures have already gotten curious over the dehydrator. |
