FAF Presents: Barbie Collector's Club exclusive fashions (part 2) Archived Message

Today we'll look at the final 3 fashions offered by Barbie Collectibles as part of their yearly membership kits for the Barbie Collector's Club.

Barbie Collector's Club exclusive, Gallery Scene, box date 2002, stock #53871- A flirty little fashion perfect for a gallery outing or tea in the garden.

To show the shell without the cardigan. It has a contrasting stripe waistband. The bracelets are the doll's own.

Barbie Collector's Club exclusive, French Quarter, box date 2002, stock # B2518- A lovely 2-piece gown with lace and embroidery trims. The skirt is longer than the doll is tall so it has to be spread out around her. It would be very awkward to stroll the red carpet in! I could not get the upper 2 corset snaps to fasten on Liz (who has a regular Barbie body) so I got to thinking that the silkstone Barbies were coming out around this time, and indeed the corset fits the silkies like a glove, although there is no mention on the packaging that it is fitted to silkies.

The "diamond" necklace is Liz's own.

Here the gown is shown on a silkstone:

To show some of the separates & the corset by itself. I like the contrasting color chevrons embroidered on the little purse.

Barbie Collector's Club exclusive, Melrose Morning, box date 2003, stock # B3428- This fashion provides quite a different look than the other BC exclusive fashions. It includes a cabbie hat in the same pleather as the jacket and pants but it has no stretch so I couldn't get it to stay on Barbie's head. The shell necklace that came with the fashion originally was too small and members received a second necklace with a longer string in the mail a few months after the kits had shipped.

Two pics to show the overshirt and the tube top without the jacket. The necklace in these pics is the doll's own.

Close-up of the accessories including the hat:

Next week, my good friend Judie and I are hoping to start reviewing some dolls & fashions that might make Barbie feel a bit warm...dare I say even feverish?!
