Well, here it is. The FINAL Fashion Avenue Friday post.Today we'll look at the very few items that were branded Fashion Avenue but were not clothing or dolls. I do not own any of these items so all the pics are from the internet, and I don't know what years any of them were sold.
Fashion Avenue Carry Case- What better way to encourage the purchase of more FA's than to have this nice large closet case in which to store them, or carry them to a friend's house to "play Barbies".
The front of the box shows some Fashion Avenues as well as other non-FA fashions hanging in the case:
The side of the box which, interestingly, shows 2 fashions that I don't believe were actually Fashion Avenues:
The carry case in it's closed position. The fashions shown are FA's:
The case in the open position. I think some of the smaller drawer pull-out units might be missing from the lower shoes area.
Fashion Avenue Purse & Sunglasses- I do know how this item was sold because it states right on the package insert that if you buy 2 Fashion Avenues you can buy this purse/sunglasses set for a penny. What a deal!
I believe the purse is actually just clear vinyl with pink vinyl trims. The Barbie logo graphics are on the insert, here shown from the back:
Fashion Avenue tote case- I don't know anything about this piece but it is clearly labeled "Fashion Avenue". I wonder if it's tall enough to hold a doll? If so, then it could be considered a carry case for toting around a doll and some fashions.
It's possible there are other branded items. These are just the ones I'm aware of.
It's been a great 6-year run!! I started this series in January 2017 as part of a New Year's resolution to play more and buy less. While the second part of that resolution fell by the wayside, lol, I think the first part went well. Having a weekly series forced me to dig out dolls and fashions that had been in storage for years, and actually dress dolls and photograph them. I hope everyone enjoyed seeing these older fashions and if you found something you liked, I hope I gave you enough info that you could go find it on ebay or wherever. I know I've been terrible about responding to everyone's comments, but please know that I did read and appreciate everything everyone posted over the years!
What's next? My 2023 resolution is the same as the 2017 one. Here's hoping I can do better with the "buy less" part! I have some ideas for 2 longer series but I've decided before I double down on one of those I'm going to review the short-lived BMR series from Mattel. That starts next year, i.e. next week!
Happy New Year!
