A June bride...and the answer to a mystery >>Archived Message

I have a photo of me with a doll, from the 1960s, and I was never able to identify the dress. I thought the doll was a Barbie (and it might be, but I'm now doubtful about that). I know we had a golden blond Swirl because I remember how I loved combing her silken hair. But this doll in the picture has bright blush on her cheek and an extremely high forehead, leading me to believe she might be a Uneeda Babs. And the gown - I remember it, and loving it - but I could never find any mattel match for it. So after inheriting this doll collection from a ex-boss, I was refreshing the gown and her American Girl doll. I did a little research when I realized it was the same gown as on my own doll in the photo of us. I found lots of reference to the Uneeda dolls and the gown, sometimes sold on a doll and sometimes packaged to be worn by a Wendy doll. Imagine how happy I was to solve this long mystery! Since I started collecting in the mid-1980s I've been trying to figure it out. Here are pics!
