Just wanted to share a doll I created in honor of my daughter. She is 15, and has a very creative and sensitive soul. A bit of a backstory, this year she started high school after being at home for the past one and a half years doing online learning due to the pandemic. She wanted to return and make a statement at school. She went from this girl who wanted no one to notice her/ to blend in the background, to a girl who wanted to show her creativity and spirit in her appearance. She kind of has a punk/goth thing going on. I have to admit, her father and I were a bit taken aback at the drastic change but let her go with it after worrying a bit at first at how people might react to her, including teachers. She has come out of her shell, made new friends and has become this outspoken person with a passion for people who tend to be marginalized. I am proud of the young woman she is and is becoming.
I used a monster high doll as a base for the project. Monster high was what she always wanted to collect and play with. Even from a young age she loved how different they were and the diversity among them.
This base doll was a very loved and played with doll, and I hope she enjoys the new one as much as I enjoyed making it for her. My daughter loves to wear red, black and white, including plaid patterns (thus the color scheme) and she loves anime/vocaloid gumi, so I painted one on her shirt. Hope you enjoy the picture and a bit of the backstory
