The Most Beautiful Doll In The World ......... I once had a beautiful doll, dears, the most beautiful doll in the world. Her cheeks were so red and so white, dears, and her hair was so wonderfully curled . I lost my sweet little doll, dears, as i played on the heath one day, and though i looked for her many a day, dears, I never could find where she lay.... I found my beautiful doll, dears, As i played on the heath one day. Folks say she is terribly changed, dears, for her paint, it has all washed away, her hair's trodden off by the cows, dears, and her dress is all tattered and grey, But for old times sake, she is still, dears, The most beautiful doll in the world! i was given this wonderful little book when i was a very young child, and cried every time this poem was read to me..as soon as i learned to read, i memorized it, and it still touches my heart to this day. i lost the book somewhere, but a few years ago, found a copy, much to my delight. Recently i realized i couldn't make out the faces of my dolls on the top shelf, even when i shone the flashlight on them..it was as if i had lost some 30 dolls all at once..devestating..i tried to rearrange them on the lower shelves, but if i packed them in, i couldn't make them out clearly enough..it was a sad time for me, so i tried to focus on posting pics here on DD as often as i could, and guess what! i realized that i can see my dolls so clearly through their pics! i can still keep them in their right places ,(it's a joy to have them), and see them better than i have for some time...What a gift!, one i might not have realized if it wasn't for having to take pics to share with you here on DD. So thanks all of you for posting pics of your lovelies, and for helping me to still see my own treasures..
