We lived in an apt nearby and the waters flooded our road and parking lot and lost some things in storage but my grandparents lived in an English basement apt and lost so so much. They had to live in a hotel for months. The ice storm of '94 knocked power out for days. The house went down to fifty something degrees and all we had was the hot water heater and stovetop working. It was a cold Chicago winter. We had bunnies and cats at the time do we didn't want to leave them to go to a warming centrer or hotel.
