FAF Presents: A Randall Craig Retrospective, Tribute to Bild Lilli collection (part 1)

Hey all! It's been a minute! Here's how a one-month planned "hiatus" turned into a 6-month "leave of absence". I originally planned to take the month of September off for a 3-week road trip from Oregon to Maine. It was a great trip with the highlight being a visit with my dear friend Judie in Montreal. A few days after hubby and I returned our daughter and her girlfriend had a change in circumstances that had them moving home for a while. This meant they were staying in our guest room which is also my "doll photography studio" so I couldn't use it until early December when they moved on to the next chapter in their lives. By then the holidays were upon us AND my hubby decided we needed concrete work on our garage and driveway which necessitated moving everything from our garage into a rented Pod on the street and then, after the work was done, moving everything back into the garage. So it's mid-January at this point and a collector friend of my hubby's asks if he's planning on attending the Vintage Computer Festival in Anaheim. Well, no he wasn't, but suddenly a trip to LA and then a loop into Arizona for a week is on the schedule for mid-February. And here we are, finally with some breathing room, and I haven't forgotten that I want to get back to showcasing Randall's wonderful fashions. But first here's a few pics from my visit with Judie:Me and Judie in her living room:

And just because, another view of just one wall of Judie's fabulous doll room:
And now back to our regularly scheduled program. The Look of Lilli, 75 pieces (retail price $46)- Many of you may know that Bild Lilli was a German doll from the 50's that at least partially inspired Barbie. I don't have any original Lilli's but I have a few repro Lilli's and one is the model in this photo shoot. The fashions RC designed were homages to the fashions that Bild Lillis wore when they were sold. This fashion includes a white sweater top with a wide red belt for accent color plus black capris. Accessories included a large clutch, silver glasses and red rhinestone earrings (not shown). The shoes and hair ribbon were not included.

Lilli Style, 75 pieces (retail price $46)- The Bild Lilli body was similar to the vintage-style Barbie body & here a mod Barbie with that style body models the fashion which includes a black scoop neck sweater, white belt and dark green short shorts. A cute little silver hair clip was included as was a tote purse (not shown) and green rhinestone earrings (not shown). The shoes are from my stash and the pink bracelets are the doll's own.

Next week I hope to finish up the Bild Lilli Tribute fashions.
