Last week I worked on puttering in the girls' townhouse to take a break.
The popular 2002 Dream townhouses, I stuck two of these together.
Mattel 2002 townhouse (from pinterest)
This is the last of my communal living doll projects. We have 4-5 gals living in Vickie's old townhouse(s).
Like most of Mattel's structures, there really isn't enough floor space---in just one townhouse.
After struggling with lighting for 5-6 years I added strip lighting that plugs in...I've burned probably 10 times the cost of this in batteries and battery lights over the years. The upstairs is open so it's easy to 'spotlight' for photos, but the ground floor was so dark.
Another project was the third version of a new floor, fitting the two houses together left gaps, so I finally made layers of foam core and then a pattern for the entire floor of a fitted sheets of foam core sub-floor. Then I used the new stickum sheets from the dollar tree to make flooring. By drawing additional lines and 'nails' it looks like real flooring and has a nice vinyl finish.
I also ripped out one set of built-ins in the right townhouse..for more living room space. I plan on building new builtins eventually. Carly is sleeping downstairs right now.
I finally added a pantry where the embossed pantry wall was, (foam core and dollar tree sticky vinyl)now they can actually store things. This townhouse only has an opening stove and d.washer, and no place for any accessories.
The larger table and chairs needs paint, or vinyl coverings...the color scheme is weird at this point, many things need to be painted to unify the space.
But the lights and flooring have started the 'magic' now---like all homes, it is a work in progress!
