This dio used to be in a small bookcase and I always had to take it down. I've wanted to set it up permanently in a closet shelf for years but never got around to it. Until now. I've had all the furniture forever and am so happy to *finally* display both my Jonathon Adler sofas together! The bookcase was too small for both pieces. This is just a blurry photo of a work-in-progress. It's a bigger space so my "wallpaper" board isn't big enough. Have to whip something better up. For this shot I've used the boxes from the "Pink" Barbie line from 2008 to fill in the left hand "wall". They're fun for backdrops.
It's coming together...
Moved the sofas around to give "walk around space" and added a fireplace and cabinet. The "wallpaper" was cut for a smaller space so I'm experimenting with the pink sparkly paper to compensate. Hmm. Jack, Rosalie's boyfriend, is visiting. More to work on with this.
I've had these stairs since I was 11 and got them with a Barbie dollhouse. I've had to add books for height for now. I'm thinking of cutting some foam core and stacking it or taking the plastic base off and creating a new base with foam core...
Sofas/end tables/lamps: Jonathan Adler
Chair: Pop Life
Coffee Table: clear plastic thing from a My Scene set resting on top of a mini tub with a pink lid
Cabinet: thrift store find. It's marked 1994 Barbie & is missing its doors
Stairs: 1990 Barbie dollhouse
Accessories: mix of Fashion Fever and My Scene
Jack has brought her roses. Just a different view of her living room.
Fireplace: 1990s Barbie set, came with an awesome piano
"For me?"
He brings roses so he gets kisses, lol.
This wallpaper makes the whole picture a little too pink (if there's such a thing, lol) even with a color correcting edit. I need another lamp to add more light or change the paper...
"I love them!"
Added a wall
The stairs have a round base with a wedge cut out so that it could fit snugly against the 1990 house it came with so adding a wall here kinda replicates that. If I remove the base and create a new rectangular one from foam core it would take up less space and the wall wouldn't be a floating wall as it is now. But it's here until then. This is my 1st time working with foam core and I stuck a pin in to hang the Jonathon Adler Barbie silhouette mirror. I'm so happy to have it hanging up!! I wanted a wall to add depth. I've seen dios where there's an archway in the background and a bokeh effect happens. I'm hoping to achieve that eventually. Still working on the archway.
Oh, and I added the two Adler blankets (I forgot I had two since I bought my second sofa deboxed so it was a happy find!) and I made one an area rug. I love it! It makes it cozy.
Last one for now
A different angle of the new wall and the Barbie mirror. I'm going to repaper the walls but that doesn't sound like fun (papering is always "titchy" work for me) so I don't know when I'll get around to it. There's not enough dopamine in that task, lol! But I've been working on another dio so I'll post pics of that soon!
