but the stems are "hairy" instead of smooth. That's how you know it's safe. The white flowers resemble hemlock as well, so it's always good to check for hairy stems to be sure. It's one of my favorite flowers and my mom and I are so happy that the last several years it has grown in one of our grass banks. We harvest the seeds every fall and try to get it to grow in some of our other beds, too because we love it so much.
