looking for tips to improve my scenes.
Marna has a great way of standing her dolls
without a stand and I hope she gives us a
refresher.
You don't always have to use a doll stand in a
scene. Male dolls can usually stand on their own
and so can some female dolls especially if they
have non-articulated ankles.
This Barbie has articulated ankles and can be a
little difficult to stand but with some
patience you can do it especially since she's
wearing flats.
You also need a little patience to stand dolls
wearing heels.
Sometimes I lean an elbow against the backdrop
but you don't see that in the final product.
If you do need to use a stand make sure it's
always facing away from the camera.
It doesn't make any difference which way the doll is facing.
Always place the stand away from the camera.
If your doll is wearing loose pants and you're
using a MAD stand, place the rod inside the
pants. That's how they were designed to be used.
Stands come in different shapes/colors. Always
use the one that's the most discreet.
You can camouflage the stand with anything you
have at hand.
