Re: Practice or Racing
I think it is pretty clear what the key is. More track time, less pit time. The reason we're hitting practice days is 3x the riding time and no waiting for the same $ as one entry fee. I used to love to race, but haven't in two years due to time and cost, and I got tired of showing up to race 5 other guys in the vet b. To end the day quicker, Tracks will have to reduce classes, and there is no way to do that without someone possibly getting upset, but I think there is definitely some room to reduce them. Start maybe with two/four stroke designations, then work on the mini classes. Also, maybe just make the non-AMA +35, etc classes strictly age, no A,B,C. I like the idea of reducing fees for additional classes. If you can get the rider there for one class, and make it a deal to race more, you'll end up making more I think. Personally, I think the multiple classes are here because the owners are trying to find a way to get more riders and $, and you can't blame them. They should be commended for running these facilities in today's environment, and without them we'd be left with no place to ride. However, it's pretty clear the current system isn't working for racing, and someone is just going to have to step up and try something different and see how it goes. Read these great comments, and pick some ideas from each. I think a combination of these ideas will work.
