Jumping up the bonzai is safer because you lose speed when jumping up because of gravity and less chance of rolling and crashing downhill. The 2 lines right before the old finish was great for passing and adding excitement for the spectators just as the race was finishing. The rhythm section seemed to flow better and felt safer then the current whoops sections you have.
I went to Sleepy's last race and it had been awhile since I have been there, but I thought the track was a lot better and I can see where you have been putting in a lot of effort. I know you can't change the dirt overnight, but as long as you keep working in the mulch and other dirt, sand, and other soil you have been using, eventually the dirt will come around. It might take a few years.
If you keep the current layout, I would suggest changing the whoops around. Its a little too much right after the start when I watch the Open C class race. I think you should add the old section back to the track near the old start and maybe put a small rhythm section in there. The entire area by the finish line needs to be changed for sure. I would extend the track after the pipe jump up the hill some and make a 180 degree left turn back down towards the finish line and throw in a small step down into a right hander for the finish line.
I could go on and on with suggestions, but mainly you have to decide what direction and how you want the layout to be first. I think putting haybales on the insides of all the turns during practice would help to create more than one line. Maybe we could get some volunteers to help you with that.
I think the main thing people want is to have fun and feel like the track and the riders are flowing. It really doesn't matter how the dirt is, when everyone is having fun. The current finish line seems to make the races a bit more boring. Having the finish line by the spectators seems to generate a lot more excitement for the riders, spectators, and the scorers.
Maybe you could come up with 3 different layouts and have all of us vote on it. Just make sure the voting is done at the track by the the people who actually race it.
