Mickey before going out to buy a printer, did your grandson try plugging your printer directly into your chromebook with a printer cord like this one-

I'm asking because I have a 15 year old HP printer that I plugged directly into my cb and it was recognized by my cb immediately and a cord is much cheaper to buy than a printer and even if you do end up buying a new printer, it's much easier to just set your cb on top of your printer and plug it into your printer to print a page as long as you seldom print than it is to try to set up a wifi connection.
