SK I used to try updating from the 3 dots and at that time I was given the option to update(not anymore) but it would never actually update so I then went to the launcher and tried that and found that the launcher icons didn't work so I chose to move the gear icon from the launcher over to the shelf where it does work and it does update. Right click on the gear icon in your launcher and choose to pin it to the shelf.

Quite trying to update from the 3 dots on the chrome browser and try my way, just because something used to work for you doesn't mean that it will continue to work now that you have the extended update OS.
