In nhra and or pretty much every big car racing association , if one car red lights and the other takes the light (breaks the starting line beam/gets a reaction time) that car is awarded the win. He does not have to finish the race, UNLESS the car crosses the center line or hits the wall. Then he would be out on the first or worst rule. Just my 2 cents.
