Have you considered how much God loves you? It is crucial that we understand. Knowing and experiencing His compassion changes us. It is the foundation from which we mature. It is the frame of reference that we draw our own self compassion from. Knowing God's love helps us love others. We can be patient with others when we understand what David really means when he writes, "He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve." We can forgive others when we really believe, "He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west." Knowing and experiencing the love that God has for us empowers us to love Him more. Oh to know the riches of His mercy, the depths of His grace and the magnificence of His love. These are the pearls of great price. Today, behold the wonder of His compassion and contemplate His goodness toward you.
Dear Father, how I thank you for your unfailing love toward me. Thank you for not punishing me for my sins or dealing harshly with me as I deserve. How I praise you for removing my sins as far from me as the east is from the west. Thank you for Jesus my Savior. In His name I pray, amen.
