Kennel Reduction prior to going north
Posted by Doug Meyer on July 14, 2014, 2:11 pm
I would like to get a few dogs and pups to others prior to heading north this summer. I have some room for them but wish to concentrate on fewer dogs and NOT kill myself while I'm up there!
PUPS: I have some male pups out of a Shooting Dog Futurity winner from back in the day who is now on a guide string in Texas as an older retired trial dog. Big time bird finder. Female who is a trial prospect and NOT a brood b###h is out of my 2X CH, 2X RU Shooting Dog CH Greypointe Gladiador. Pups have had maximum socialization, etc and are being walked and exposed to all kinds of things in the field, hauled in crates, etc. Whelped 4/14/2014. Litter enrolled.
DERBY FEMALE is an experienced hunting dog prospect. Sire: CH S F Cufflink who won R 14 AA CH at Mortlach two years ago and RU at Region 4 AA besides other major wins and DOY titles. This girl's litter mates placed last season in AA and SD Derby competition as puppies. Dam: Greypointe Gloriosa, shooting dog winner and dam of Greypointe Izquierda, Greypointe Islamorada, and S F Strongwind. All of these are AA winners and one is half qualified for Grand Junction. Strongwind won the John S Gates Derby Classic in Manitoba. Spark is w & lv about 45 pounds. Pretty running and pointed. Has spent one summer on the prairie and a full FIVE months in South TX hunting wild quail. Standing her birds with MANY shot over her. Being GENTLY steadied on pigeons now.
GREYPOINTE HASTA LAVISTA- Broke shooting dog with wins coming six years old. RU DOY here in KS also. He has shown well in limited AA trials when entered. I would prefer this dog remain in a situation that would allow him to hunt birds or be trialed on the prairie. He will win for you and is death on sharp tails!
FIRST YEAR SHOOTING DOG FEMALE. Super fast on the ground, excellent bird finder and sharp all around pointing and running. W & O out of a SD champion and an AA champion sired female. I have her broke on pigeons here at home. Has been north two summers and was also in South TX last winter. Bird finding piece of equipment- especially on bobwhites in tough country. Ready to go north and finished on sharpies!
Please PM or call 913-five one five-2536 and I will provide more details, pics via e-mail, pedigree info., etc. Would prefer you come look at them and will show them in the field. Located Kansas City metro area.
Bump. Free ran these young dogs plus Greypointe Hasta Lavista on wild birds this week. Good solid contacts and progress on breaking them. What great weather to have low fifties in the mornings and temps holding below eighty all day! This is a big time bonus. Counting down the days until heading north in a couple weeks.....
In good pheasant country, there are some birds along the roads to check cord dogs as well. Clutch sizes indicate a decent hatch from what were very low numbers of birds the past two years.
