Well had been thinking, a dangerous hobby I know, but after my last year at AC I think i've come across a fun little game/scavenger hunt that does not dwell into the realm of creepy much at all. If folks can somehow see this as worse than PG, please tell me because I can't. Its mainly been an intellectual exercise that might help folks recognize eachother on first times as well..
Pred/prey games at cons-- in the con themselves. Wearing a specific badge makes you part of the game(You are what I eat) for pred, (Eat me) for prey, (Eat or be eaten) for pred/preys. The game commences and as folks walk around if a predator sees a prey they tap that player on the shoulder show there badge and just take em aside and say how there gobbling em up, playfully taunting them, perhaps taking the badge(easiest if personalized in some ways to show who it was), or just making a mark that they scored(a hole puncher might work nicely). Taking the badge has the negative effect of taking someone outa the pool for a bit though.A better solution might be just to take photos of the badges snarfed for evidence of your catch..hmm
Folks are ONLY in game when wearing the badge... So if someone wants peace and quiet just take off that eat me badge and your safe..its rude to put on/ take off and then pounce..Though scorekeeping can be done for a tally there are no prizes for winning, and certainly no rewards for being a dick about it all.. its all for fun.
I'll be making up the badges for the most part, simple design, pretty easy to recognize I should think, those of you who'd like to play the game early send me a mail or FA/EKa message, can probably personalize your chosen badge with your name, nothing fancy but a nice little touch I can do. Will likely have a half dozen of each sorta generic badge with me to hand out to players
Will post a picture of the various badges later, still working on a eat or be eaten style one
Of course, being half a year away I don't know if i'll end up doing this but seems like a fun little diversion for those of us who like to dine on our fellow man.. or woman.. or fish. Comments? Improvements? Ideas? A Pulse?

Re: Vore Games in RL-Con

So some ideas for this rattled around in my head and won't really stop until I put them down. I think this is a neat concept that could be fun and wouldn't really have any problems with the con if handled correctly. I have a few ideas if this remains just for fun or if we want to try and make something with a scoring system and prizes. Could start planning for AC.
Just for Fun Ideas
Double-sided Badge – If you go the badge collection route, anyone who can be prey has a double sided badge. One side is their name and whatever sketch they can get someone to put on it of their character. The other side is their name and a stock image of a full belly. When a pred catches a prey and goes through the motions, the collect that prey’s badge and wear it backwards indicating who they caught. If you’re middle of the road and you get eaten, you’d probably surrender all collected badges to the pred that got you. Otherwise, if you don’t do badge collection, the prey simply flips the badge over for a while to indicate they’ve been recently eaten and are off the market.
Competitive Game Ideas
Game Commissioner – Set someone whose job is to tally up points at the end of each day (probably just do competitive on Fri. thru Sat.) and keep track of who’s playing in what general position. They’d be in a particular place at a particular time block at the end of each day to collect “menus” (explained below) from all the preds playing in the game so that points can be recorded and hand out the fresh menu for the next day.
Scoring – Register as Pred, Prey, or Both essentially. Each character that can be pred (regardless of if they can also be prey) is given a simple paper before each day’s competition, or they can just have the file to print out before the con. This will simply say (Pred Name)’s Menu. Each character that can be prey is given a label sheet (again, they could just have a few to print out before the con or just have to make labels of a particular size if they want to play) with their name, maybe an icon of the character or an image of a gut bulge. When a pred character catches a prey and completes the transaction, they get one of that prey’s labels to stick in their Menu, trying to fill it out. At the end of the day, the Commissioner tallies both how many preys a pred caught and how many times each prey was caught and eaten. Only unique interactions count towards score. For example, I can’t just eat the same prey over and over throughout the day and get extra points. Or if someone eats me on Friday, neither of us can get a Pred point or a Tasty point (being eaten) for the same interaction on Sat.
Winners – There would be three to four categories of winners in this model:
Apex Predator – The Pred with the most unique meals filling out their Menus who managed to gorge him- or herself on almost every prey available.
Tastiest Morsel – The Prey eaten by the most unique preds throughout the competition who wound up desired on almost every Menu
Most Varied Someone registered Both that has the most unique interactions combining both being Pred and Prey
Survival Instinct – The Prey to wind up on the least menus by ducking predators and not getting caught.
Prizes – We could just have prizes be bragging rights at the Sunday vore dinner at Buca. Or if a few artists are willing to donate coupons for a single B+W character commission (or more if a few are feeling really generous). Those could be given on Sunday morning after the winners are announced, with the artist holding a slot for the winner on that day. That’s up to if anyone wants to donate.
So there are the ideas I had. Naturally if we do this, they’d need to be refined and worked around a little, but we have some time. It’s probably a little too convoluted, but I think it could be a lot of fun if we can get this organized and have enough people to play.
Thanks for the feedback, its very much appreciated, and will just deal with a bit of it now, don't take any of these replies the wrong way, just good to think through ideas with multiple hungry minds bringing up concerns.
Lets see. First, one of the risks I'd like to avoid is getting to complicated complicated things tend to end up failing spectacularly.
The dual sided badge idea is something I've been wanting to learn to do myself for other reasons(since I'm learning to make badges, i've just gotta get my printer used properly) Last year one of my biggest annoyances was my one sided badges getting flipped constantly in the wind..but anyhow
Having each person with a fully customized badge can make things considerably harder than I initially intended, if everyone has the same base design(maybe with there own name on it) its easier, something big enough to see from a distance and so on.. people would be able to tell at a glance on who is playing the game and who just might have a vory sorta normal badge
The MAIN problem I keep coming back to with badge collecting is getting them back to there original owner before the end of the con.. sure its fun to take the badge of your supper, that's part of the fun, but in my heart I'd like people to have a keepsake as well of the game. This is especially true of personalized badges.(Generic ones people might not care about but if you've gotten your art on the backside, or a signed front of the badge you might not want to lose it
Competition..if we get competitive I KNOW i'm going to come in dead last, I think I need new glasses). Will also assume that all players here are being honest, its easy enough to cheat most of the ideas i've come up with. Being in fun first will be key.. But apart from coming in dead last if we could get a sizable number of folks playing the competition could be fun. Since i'm a carebear sorta person i'd have some sort of prize for every player(This works out well because I just had some vory fridge magnets made up and should have plenty of extras to give out .(This sorta fits under rewards too)
Scoring might need a bit of work from a conceptual angle, Preds are easy of course, but prey.. there are generally two prey mentalities, those that like to feed a pred and those that like to be hunted, it seems strange for a prey (hunt me down) player to go hunting down a pred to try to improve there score. Pred vs pred/prey could always go to the pred on meeting.. but the tricker aspect I see would be handling when two pred/preys meet
In thinking of this, should definitely make rules that you can't go stalking folks for noms when there doing there duty at the artist alley.. (though they could remove there badge at that time as well I assume).. Winning: The awards could be fun(Though “master of the food chain” sounds better for the pred prey than most varied, depending on how many players we'd have to decided how many categories..but min of 3 seems fitting..
Rewards-I'd like to do this in some form, and I'll torture more folks with the little mementos i'm bringing this year, so could put a vorish mug or two in the prize pool. Winners rolling a die to get first pick of the bigger prizes) Bragging rights are damn fun but not everyone'll be at the sunday night dinner(certainly not sure i'll be there myself, will depend on airfare and probably a lot of things I can't think up right now) So i'd think it might be good for all the players to meet up in some place sunday morning at somepoint for the announcements, giving out prizes.. Would also myself try to give out thankyou gifts to those who help run the thing(The commissioner from your notes for example)
Now something BIG that might be fun to do after the fact, and i'll tentatively offer to do it, is write up a story about the whole thing, people send me there interactions, will write it up simply and should end up reading like a vorish commentary on the whole event..”And later that saturday evening sharky stalked up and pounced an unsuspecting cougar who helped and struggled against the westin's pool before becoming shark food.... adding another notch to Sharkies gut, now numbering 12”
