Re: Leopard seal encounter
That's millions of years of evolution at work. Mammalian carnivores that become virtually fully aquatic and become specialist fish eaters no longer require incisores and molars designed to shear and crush the bones of larger terrestrial prey too large to swallow whole. The teeth basically turn into sharp cones designed to hold slippery fish that are swallowed whole. Curiously, some herbivorous mammals similalry adopted a life in the sea, and their grinding and clipping teeth designed to handle vegetation evolved into pointy fish grabbers as well. The four chambered stomachs of Cetacens, including the toothed ones like orcas, reveal they were once grazing, land-bound vegetarians. similalrmolare reerheresiurn smarerrgbonesiesnuf
