I can’t even explain to people how I, We are truly blessed to have such a communication tool that all things can be spoken about.
Ok let me share this, and yes this is a dissertation, but short though. lol. It may be funny, or not.
I was in a Zoom endorsement meeting, all women, older white women that reached out to me for an endorsement interview. I agreed. Before i go on, let me ask this question….do any of you guys ever watch Becker? If so, do you remember the episode where he was dating this doctor and when she left the room, he looked in her wallet saw a membership card and made a commit. Ok, I digress. So they all took turns asking me questions about myself, my belief, what I would do, so forth and so on. Ok one broad, i mean one lady asked me where there anything in my pass that may come up that I may have concerns about. I paused for a moment, thought about my writings on Big ten that I may had commit on, giggled, and replied by saying to her, if you find any thing please let me know because other than that I’m good. Lol. In my head i was singing Jill Scott, you know the long walk home, where she says “your background it ain’t squeaky clean, sometimes we all got to swim up stream, you ain’t no saints, we all of sinners” …. Ya’ll knows the rest. 😊 Truth be told. I was not expecting that question, at all. In my head I asked myself am I the only one she asked that question, or is it because I’m only black one they are interviewing? You know Not black like me!!! I had to ask myself. These women all looked to be in their late 80’s, sitting in their old reclining, a woman organization. I was thankful for the invite and will interview again, if asked. Hope I don’t get black next time, just saying.
Lastly, I say this to say, imma be cool from now on what I say good things going forward. For real.
Everyone have a lovely day and remember Big Ten is the best thing we got going for us since slice bread. Let’s keep it going.
Love you guys
