Timothy aka "Timmy Lou" Lewis at Willowbrook J.H.S. 1971
Timothy "Timmy Lou" Lewis as Band-Drum Major at Centennial H.S. Class of 1974
To the Lewis Family, the Class of 1974 and School Friends,
With Deepest Sympathy, Prayers and Condolences,
I'm very sorry to hear of Timothy "Timmy Lou" Lewis' passing.
"Timmy Lou was a very good & close friend of my brother Searcy Jerome Macon from Willowbrook J.H.S. as well as from the Class of 1974 at Centennial H.S.
They were both Band members at Centennial H.S. "Timmy Lou" was the Bands Drum Major during his Senior Year at "The Big Ten. Back then no other Band in
Compton could outmatch The Centennial H.S. Band or the Centennettes. Back then the Band was so... good that they were invited to perform in the New York
MACY DAY PARADE on Thanksgiving. I'll never forget how proud we were. Everyone was watching them play, dance and strut down the Parade Route doing
their thing (They really made Compton and Centennial H.S. Proud that day. Back then it was rare to see Black Bands on TV. That day I saw Timmy Lou & my
brother playing his trumpet and so.... many others that year on the TV screen. I'll never forget it). I will always have fond memories of all of us having good
times & so much fun together at our house on 130th St.. I remember back-in-the-day when "Timmy Lou" even went to Disneyland with our Family once or
twice. He was a very lighthearted and joyous person to be around. He was very funny and humorous; he could always crack jokes and really make us
laugh so... hard. But most of all, I will always remember his big smile.... that he had everytime that I saw him. He had a very kind & loving spirit.
Once again, I am very sad to hear of Our Dear Alumni, & Neighborhood Friend "Timmy Lou's" passing. He Will Be Missed. May He R.I.P.
Love Always, Your Forever Friend Phoebe Macon (From The Old Neighborhood)
