Thank You Classmates (Wayne, Tamara, Natanya, Airebell) for your kind thoughts. I Appreciate it!!
The last 10 years of being retired at 53 years old to now 63 years old flew by so.... fast (but so did 30+ plus years of working). I absolutely love and enjoy being retired. I know some retirees may disagree and not like being retired but I look at it as a blessing from God. God is good all the time. Before I retired so many of my co-workers wanted to retire but never got the chance because they passed away unexpectedly before they could retire. So for them and seeing that they didn't get that chance, makes me enjoy my retirement even more. Life is way too short so we have to enjoy these days doing what we can when we can.
I love not waking up to an alarm clock, I love not having a strict schedule or any schedules (unless I want them), I love not having any of that day-to-day work stress. My life and my time now are my own for the most part. I take solace in the fact that when I worked (and was an employee) I worked my behind off and that I was able to make 'substantial and lasting contributions' during all of those years of work; so this retirement time is "a bittersweet & enjoyable next phase of my life".
Little did I know that not long after my retirement I would be taking care of my Mom who became ill with dementia and suffered several strokes. She bounced back quick after her first set of strokes (she had three all at one time) and recovered; but she did not bounce back after (the second set of three strokes about a few years later). The second time that she had the strokes they really put her down. First I took care of my Mom at her home for a while and then later I brought her to my home to continue taking care of her. Mom's dementia got worse and she refused to take her medicine so my brother & I reluctantly had to make a decision for Mom. Now Mom is at a Skilled Rehab & Nursing Care Facility because she needed much more care than we could provide. Mom has to get better and continue her rehab and then hopefully we can bring her back home (God willing). I've been super busy, I started keeping and am still keeping my grandchildren 7 days a week (one is 7 almost 8, one is 3 almost 4, and the baby is 1 almost 2 years old). I stay busy running around after my grandkids (there's never a dull day & that's how I get my exercise in everyday).
Thanks again for thinking of me!!
Stay Safe, Take Really Good Care Everyone & God Bless you & Your Families!!
Love and Blessings, Phoebe
