![]() Services For Former Compton Mayor Honorable Doris A. Davis!!! City of Compton Former Mayor Honorable Doris A. Davis "Compton's First African American Female Mayor" CITY OF COMPTON: The Home-Going Service celebrating the life of the Honorable Mayor Doris A. Davis, former Compton Mayor and African American icon, will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11 A.M. Compton City Council Chambers. Doris A. Davis earned a place in Black History and American History when she became the first African American female mayor of a metropolitan city in the United States; and in the City of Compton in 1965. Mrs. Davis served the City of Compton as an elected official - first, as the first African American female City Clerk; and eight years later, as the first African American female Mayor. Please continue to keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.
