Big Ten 75 Apaches:
I am not sure if you all remember the history textbooks we were issued at Centennial, They were always outdated and really didn't give a true account of History. Well, Apaches brace yourself. Nothing Change. As we all know, the majority, no wait just about all of our textbooks are not written to conform to what the curriculum standard should be, meaning the truth. For decades, in many states, state boards had appointed "ideology" that don't often insert the truth in most of the history books that are read by students in high school. let me give an example. I'm not going to get to deep into what my beliefs are but I will point out in truth that in the Texas curriculum, publishers had revised the textbooks to insert in young people minds that Caesar Chavez , the renowned community and labor organizer, not to mentioned a civil rights leader, was a poor role model because of the fact, "they" felt he was a poor role model for students. Another way publisher had distorted history was exaggerating religious influences on the American founding and the constitution (Moses). Dismissing the separation of church and state as a myth! And here is what really disturbs me and that is distorting the history of the Civil War and its aftermath. Now, this is really disturbing to me and these new textbooks had failed to mention the Black Codes, Jim Crow, Sharecropping and the KKK as important post Civil War Topics. My Question is WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE. The next thing I am about to write makes me angry, disappointed and I am sure you all will feel the same. In the new textbook distributed to the Texas High School, the publisher's purposely left out or should I say downplayed Slavery's role in causing the Civil War. in other words, what they were trying to relay was that slavery was more of an economic issue and the code used for that is "more of a side issue." Let me get even deeper. The books basically states that Black People contract to be slave when coming to American. That we as black people contract to be slave to help build American. In reading this I said to myself... and excuse the french...."WHAT THE ISH." what person (people) in their right mind would contract to be chained, beaten, rape, and not to mentioned breaded and sold like cattle. lets be honest and real about it. such distortion...still perpetuating. Let me continue. The Civil War was for "Southerners to use states' rights to justify secession but, people in actuality, the Civil war was to keep Slave Enslaved. pretending that each state, had voluntarily chosen to enter the Union. Defining the Constitution as a contract among independent states. Thus, believing that the national government had broken the contract by refusing to enforce the Fugitive Slave Act.
Its amazing how people use codes, like we as people are not gonna get it. I get so mad people continue to use the same old ideology to perpetuates Hate, and discontent. It sicken me. The sad thing about these revised history book, is that it will take the publisher's 10-15 years to revised these books and pretty much tell the lie, which leads me to think it was actually designed that way because the damage has been done. Feel me.....continue perpetrating the truth about history.
I better stop....right. because if i don't this will end up...being a 20 page manifesto. a positive manifesto of course......we wont get that twisted.
Just thought I share.
