Description: During World War II, The Tuskegee Airmen risked their lives in combat so that all Americans could continue to enjoy the freedoms we celebrate in the United States.
George Lucas, one of the most successful filmmakers in the history of Hollywood, spent 23 years trying to tell the story of these courageous global heroes. When it was clear that Hollywood was not interested, he elected to use over $90 million dollars of his own money to make and market the film.
Each of us collectively have the power to champion George Lucas’ mission by letting the entertainment industry witness firsthand that movie audiences will pay to see compelling, big-budgeted films from diverse viewpoints.
The mission, should we choose to accept it, is to “occupy” EVERY movie theater across the country showing “Red Tails” and “occupy” the foreign and domestic box office with our dollars starting Friday January 20, 2012, the opening weekend of the film. Taking a page from the Occupy Wall Street protesters, our goal is simple. Empowerment!
By flexing our economic muscles through the utilization of social media, we also send a strong message that technology can effectively mobilize communities to demonstrate not only what they’re against, but to showcase what they are willing to financially support.
