I don't believe that story. Juliana had earrings made for the set early in the 20th century and the set came with a bracelet (beyond the diamond and ruby snake bracelet already worn by Wilhelmina).

So it would have been weird to dismantle the stomacher for other pieces when they had a complete set.

I think the two ruby sets might have been mixed up. The stomacher of the Peacock set was altered and turned into a large brooch. The stones from the original stomacher may have been the basis of the earrings made for that set.

I think i would have preferred the single large pearl necklace with this gown and pure diamonds the day before.

Maxima is a bit safe in her combinations of stones and dress colour. The green dress worn in Ireland and Portugal would have looked great with pearls in Ireland and with Sapphires in Portugal. The pale blue gown worn in Germany could have been combined with the emeralds instead of the aquamarines. That would have made for more interesting choices.

On the other hand we Dutch are spoiled with the large collection of the jewels the family has especially if you compare it to some of the other dynasties. Once the Spanish Queen has to use her beautiful but rather limited collection to also provide for her daughters things will be difficult.

In Belgium they have added a nice tiara for the Duchess of Brabant but her sister and future wives of her brothers do not have anything yet, let alone some choice.
