Neat to know. I gathered about eight starfish as we left the coast highway, set them on our engine, thinking it would dry them quickly. When we hit the first gas station, we smelled like sea water...not a pleasant odor. We took them off the engine, but the smell rode all the way back to Utah. They were dry, I cleaned the dried soft tissue away. The second night, our dang cat ate the arms off every one of those.
