Since I don't walk at all, it goes without saying I envy everyone that can. But as a kid I'd either walk or ride my bike the five miles or so to the PowerDam.
I've walked the 7 miles to Port Orford from Cape Blanco road. Years ago...and I did a lot of short hikes. It would take an awful lot of stick-to-it-iveness to try one of those long adventures.

Besides all the ghoulies that the Appalachian trail tik-toks tell, and the Sasquatch tales from the NW area...scare the soup out of me. I'd probably be a bear's lunch.
