When I was very young, like most people, I had to go to kindergarten. My biggest problem was that, as far as I know, I had never heard a spoken word of English. My parents were refugees from Lithuania after World War 2. My mother spoke no English and all the friends and relatives visiting us spoke only Lithuanian. We had no TV or radio since everything was in English. On my first day, I had no idea who these people are or what the heck they are saying. I ran home three times that first day and every time I was brought back to school. So I learned at a very young age that life is tough. I picked up English very quickly and by the time I started first grade I was able to skip second grade. I was a strait A student ever since.
