Did you ever go on a scenic train ride? I travelled via train from Eugene, Oregon to Helper, Utah and it was fantastic. Riding up through the Sierras and crossing the high deserts and even going through big cities. Coming back, got stuck for 18 hours in the Sacramento station while they had to switch engines. Spent a night in Eugene as the bus line had quit for good...and had to wait to catch a shuttle van to get back to the coast. I had no idea what to do with the 'credit card' key the Red Lion desk handed me. It was crazy. Country gals who've not gone to the city for years ought to take a crash course in "modern'.
