My Grandma Day made cookies with honey instead of sugar. Her honey cookies were always plentiful and available to anyone who visited. She had a big silver colored dishpan and made big batches of those honey cookies. She said they kept well and when the war was on, she sent many boxes of them to the men overseas, her son and son-in-law included.
She was dark haired, barely hit 5'2" and wore sweaters and cotton stockings in Moab's triple digit heat in the summertime.
Once when my Grandpa spent a little too much time at the pool hall, she marched in there and he went home quickly...No one ever said what happened but he didn't go back for a while.
She was always a peace-maker for folks who needed it. I loved her.
