Happy Veterans Day, previously called Armistice Day. The Armistice that ended WW1, "the war to end all wars" was signed on the Eleventh hour of the Eleventh day of the Eleventh month in 1918. In 1971 most federal holidays were moved to the nearest Monday to create 3 day weekends - with three exceptions: New Year's day must always fall on January 1. Independence Day must always fall on July 4. And Christmas must always fall on December 25. Veterans groups across the country protested that Veterans Day should always fall on November 11. Congress later amended the law to make Veterans Day always fall on the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
