Around here we have some very old country cemeteries. Some have headstones, some are flat to the ground and some have flat stones on short legs like low coffee tables. Some are in German, some English. We have some farm homes that have family cemeteries in their yards. You drive by and see headstones in their backyards.
I read the headstones and think about the people buried there. Many are graves of children. Some families lost several children in a short amount of time. I wonder if it was measles or flu or what killed them. Can you imagine all your kids dying in one winter? People really had a rough lives long ago.
