Did you ever know someone who kidnapped someone or was kidnapped?

I knew a woman who had her grand-daughter for the first year of her life, then the child's father took the baby and lived with a new wife. (Mom had passed away in a car wreck) When 'Grandma' found out the new step-mom was the proverbial wicked step-mother, She picked up the child from 2nd grade, borrowed a car and a credit card and left the state. She made it across country but they caught her, and she went to jail. That little girl is close to forty now and the Grandma has passed on.
