And, perhaps even more interestingly, he phrased it in terms of, "If I were in that situation...," saying that he would step down after making sure that he would be succeeded by someone who could make the needed reforms. I wonder if he has someone in mind, just in case he does find himself in a similar predicament? (Not that HM would ever commit Assad-like atrocities. He may be a dictator, but he is not a tyrant!)
