Maybe you don't know, but European names are very popular in Indonesia. Many times islam people have islam names, but an European nickname.Or they have an European name.Maybe like we like to call our children not John and Julia and Maria anymore, but Priscilla,Claribel, etc. Yours sincerelly:

My wife for instance is member of the Banjarmasin sultan's dynasty. Her personal name is Yulianitha and her sister is Margeretha.Because we in Holland had Queen Juliana and have Princess Margriet(sister of Queen Beatrix),I thought, that her father(the Prince)had named his 2 daughters a sort of the same as the 2 Dutch princess.Sort ofd respect.Or also I know, that Indonesia people think sometimes, that when you give someone a name like an important person;something of the importance goes on him/her.
In the old time islam(some)kings liked to give their children also European non-official names, which became their daily names also.Christian Indonesian rulers liked to give their children names from the Dutch dynasty,or Christian names. So much people in Indonesia with name Wellem,Julaina,Beatrix,Alexander,Hendrik, etc.
These names stayed in Indonesia and used by much people. My wife said, that to me(the last explanation sentence).
Okay;thank you for your interest.
