Hi, Im wondering if a gpa of 3.5 and a gre score of 153 for quant and 154 for verbal is good enough...Im probably applying early december for Indiana Wisconsin South and the Nova schools. Also wondering what experiences would make me more competitive feel free to give me feedback and telling me if its best to wait or apply.
GPA and GRE scores are good if you have some experiences to go along with them. Some that stick out to admissions are: 50+ shadowing hours, healthcare experience, research experience (++publications), volunteer hours (especially as it to pertains to serving underprivileged), BLS certification, and leadership roles. I would also elaborate on just about any experience that relates to anesthesia in the experience section or your personal statement (sat in on a talk, had an anesthesiologist/AA mentor at some point, etc). I always tell people to apply if money isn't an issue. If it's not meant to be this year, work on some of the things listed above and try again next year. If you wait to apply next year, I would retake the GRE just to try for a better score.
