Hey everyone! Just wondering how many of you guys have interview invites and when your application was complete for this cycle.

I am about to submit my app to South University since I am technically complete there but I am still missing my shadowing document. Should I even apply this late in the cycle, considering how competitive these programs are?

I was the very first interview at case western in DC and I was officially accepted about a week ago, I think I was accepted pretty early because most people don't hear until march from what it seems but good luck with interviews!!!!

Oct 27, the email said all interviews will be falling on a Friday. Hope that helps!

I sent my application in late August and I received an interview from IU and Case Western. I have not heard back from the other three schools I have applied to.

I sent my application out at the end of July and just got an invite for an interview at Nova Ft.Laud. I haven't heard back from the other 4 programs I applied to.

Hey,

I sent my app in late July. Have heard back from MCW, South, and Indiana (3.7 GPA, 510 MCAT). You should ABSOLUTELY apply. Before you send it in, take a long hard look at your app. Your goal is to set yourself apart from other applicants. Own your "low" stats (your GPA is just fine) and elaborate in your personal statement/experience descriptions about how each experience made you into the person you are today and helped form your desire to pursue a career in anesthesia. Don't half-ass things. If you don't feel good about your app, don't send it in until you do. You have over 4 months still, the first round of interviews for the programs I listed above haven't taken place yet and there are therefore 0 accepted applicants at those programs currently. Other things that can help set you apart include BLS certification, presentations in a professional setting, and any time spent in a leadership position.

In all honesty, your MCAT score might hold you back a bit. I would think about taking the GRE to boost your chances and show your dedication to this career path. If you're in a position to wait another year to gain meaningful healthcare/research experience, I would give the MCAT another go instead. Good luck and stay confident!

MCW responded back to your app already? Did they invite you for an interview or did they just acknowledge your application that it has been received?

I did. I, too, received acknowledgement. My understanding is that applications would be begin being reviewed in early August. I am hoping to hear back regarding my application sometime soon.

I received an acknowledgement from MCW a while back that they received my application, but that is it. Did you apply to MCW FutureCAA?

I know of a couple programs that have sent out interviews, but some that haven't. Where are you looking to apply.

I have my first anesthesiologist shadowing this coming Tuesday, so as soon as I can have that document signed for each program, I can finally submit. But that doesn't count the time it takes to be "verified" by CASAA, and then like you and others have said, schools are already interviewing, placing me at a disadvantage because of my low stats: 3.2 GPA and 494 MCAT.

Thank you! The thing is, my stats are relatively low: MCAT 494, GPA 3.2
