Placing an LMA into someone's airway is deceptively easy. It takes a bit of finesse and practice, for sure. But what it really takes is the right mindset and expectation...

If Archie Brain can stick an LMA into himself awake without making himself gag, then we should all be able to find a way to put LMAs in asleep patients with the least bit of force and effort!

Old problems with new technology

Today's post addresses the popularity of video laryngoscopy and some of the pitfalls that have arisen. It's important to know that new technology doesn't mean that old problems won't occur.

Old Problems With New Technology

And as a result, solutions for issues that were familiar with older techniques might still apply when new technologies are used. Moral of the story: don't skimp out on learning the tried and true basics just because new tech seems to make it superfluous.

Current post is one about Midazolam and how perhaps it is overused and why some patients really feel strongly against getting it.

All's Not Well in La-La-Land

Remember that your empathetic bedside manner is worth a large dose of Midazolam. Practice that instead of always resorting to chemical anxiolysis. It will take you far!
