I was hoping I could get some feedback on my chances of getting into an AA program (I'm applying to all the programs except Kansas City this coming cycle). I'm 22 and right out of college.
Experience: - Currently a medical scribe in the Emergency Department - Many of hours of shadowing (shadowing MD, DO, AA, PA, etc.) - Volunteer at an assisted living facility - variety of non medically related extracurriculars (sorority, etc).
I didn't take the MCAT so I can't verify whether that is a competitive score, however, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to get in somewhere. There are always those applicants who are amazing at everything, but there are plenty more with weak spots here and there, and then there are the surprising ones who don't get in, so who knows. Come up with a few ways to make yourself really stand out on your application, personal statement, or in your interview, and I don't see why you'd stand any less of a chance than anyone else.
Nope, no chance, zero, zilch, nada. Just kidding, ha ha, I just think it's funny when people post these type of comments when you never know who is on the other side answering. Half of the time it's people trolling. You should be alright, but just look into it yourself through past comments on forums and the schools webpages of past accepted students averages. NOVA doesn't post those things, but I contacted them and they said their avg MCAT for the most recent class was a 24 (pretty low). It varies year to year and since class sizes are so small one or two applicants GPAs or test scores can easily sway the avg. I'm applying for my first time as well but only to 3 schools. I couldn't stand living at any of the other locations. Good luck to you though and I'd be pretty surprised if you didn't get into at least one of them based on what I've researched, granted you do alright at the interview.
