Being asked to explain bad grades during interviews?

For those of you who have interviewed at various AA programs, were any bad grades you earned brought-up during the interview? Were you asked to explain/justify them?

I had one bad quarter during my junior and they basically just asked what happened. They explained that the program was rigorous and I wouldnt be able to afford having a bad quarter like that again. Definitely be ready for them to ask you about any bad grades you may have had.

Did you end up getting in? If you don't mind me asking, can I ask what strategy you used to explain the bad grades?

There is no 'strategy' besides just telling the truth. Own the bad grade. Things happen, people realize their mistakes and they make appropriate interventions to get back on track.
