I was just wondering if anybody was applying to Quinnipiac University for their AA program? It seems promising although you can't do clinicals in Connecticut. Does anybody know if Quinnipiac has any rotations located in Vemont or North Carolina? I'm from central New York so it'd be less of a hassle compared to moving down to Georgia or Florida.
Also, I'm currently worried about my GRE score. I took the test in September and only received a 150 (45%) in Verbal, 152 (48%) in Quantitative, and 4.0 (56%) in Analytical. I know it's slightly lower than most schools are looking for, but I hope my work experience and GPA make up for it. My cumulative GPA is a 3.57 and a science GPA of 3.65. I have volunteer experience in the PACU. Along with that, I worked as a patient care technician part time for 8 months in the ambulatory surgery unit, and have been working full time as an anesthesia technician since I've been out of school (~2 months). I understand that admissions take the whole application into account, but I'm just worried to see if I'll even get an interview offer because of my low GRE. I applied to Quinnipiac, Emory, South, and Nova-Tampa.
I have also applied to quinnipiac for this cycle. Coincidently, my GRE was also lower then I wanted it to be. Verbal was 153 (59th), Quant was 153 (53rd), and Analytical was 5.0 (94th). My GPAs are 3.65 Cumulative, Science GPA 3.92 (had a bad first year, but no science courses then). I also have previous healthcare experience, 14 years as a critical care respiratory therapist. I know that some schools weigh experience more heavily then others, so we'll see.
Hopefully I'll see you at an interview. I do know they do rotations in Fl, Wi, and in several other states in the south, but I am not sure about Vt.
Pmrcp, your grades are pretty solid. Although your GRE is lower than you wanted, I'm sure the schools will take your work experience into serious consideration. I'm sure you won't have a problem getting an interview at the schools you applied to. The coordinator at Quinnipiac told me that they don't review applications until late November/early December so we still have some time to hear back.
As for the other schools... so far, I was invited to interview at Nova-Tampa. South just submitted my application for review yesterday, and haven't heard anything from Emory yet. I'm trying to be patient but the wait is taxing.
How about you? Did you apply to other schools besides Quinnipiac? Have you heard anything from any of the schools? Good luck to you!
Glad to hear that you got interviews already. I have only applied to Quinnipiac for AA because of a rather complicated limitation (medically related) and I need to be based close to NYC. Its funny since the clinical rotations are everywhere, but the doctors I see in NYC want a program based close.
I have applied to other graduate schools (mostly Physician Assistant), but, to be honest, I would only complete a PA program to be more competitive to an AA program. So, I would complete a PA program and reapply to AA program.
The coordinator at Quinnipiac (Victoria) told me the same thing (concerning when they review applications), but hopefully it will be sooner rather then later.
I look forward to hearing how the interview at Nova goes!
