AA hopeful with DUI

Can anyone provide any insight into how a DUI would affect getting into an AA program, obtaining a license to practice and getting a job? I'm certain it will make it more difficult but is it possible? My offense is 4 years old and I have certainly learned from my mistake and maintained a clean record since.

Due to the nature of the profession, they do take potential substance abuse very seriously. I have heard of someone who went through the program only to have her licensure rejected due to some offense that hadn't shown up on the application background check. I would have a frank discussion with the admissions counselor and/or program director of the programs in which you are interested and see how they think this might affect your application.
